Bruxismo do sono infantil - Revisão de literatura

Abstract

Bruxism is a parafunctional activity: maintained action that occurs beyond the normal functions of swallowing, chewing and phonetics. It can be either day or night, including squeezing, tensioning, grinding and grinding of teeth. In recent years, bruxism in children and adolescents has become increasingly worrying due to its negative impact on their quality of life. This work aims to try to understand the bruxism in the pediatric patient and to review its prevalence, etiology, diagnosis and possible treatments. For this purpose, a bibliographic search was conducted using the platforms Pub med, Scielo and Google academic. Although there is a lot of information related to the subject, the literature already published is insufficient, so new studies on bruxism in children and adolescents are necessary.
